After spending 8 days in Michigan with the family, I set out to Chicago for an interview. On my way there, I got stung by something in the FACE! OUCH! It was my first time staying in Chicago, and I still do not understand why it takes 30 mins to go 10 miles.
From there, I headed to Kansas City to see LA and Brenda Schwerdt for a few days. I stopped in Springfield for the night on the way there, as the Chicago interview got done a bit late. It is always great seeing them. The morning I left, we met with some friends for breakfast and visited their shop, Moc Bod, look them up if you're in the area they are a queer-owned and staffed shop who welcomes all LGBTQ+ and allies. They have a tailor, hairstylist, tattoo artist, art gallery, and merchandise.
I was lucky heading to Charleston, West Virginia, to only catch spotty showers. I wanted to go to Casey, Illinois, to see all of the world's largest rocking chair and wind chime, but with all the rain in the area, I took a southern route to avoid most of it. 20 miles from my first stop in Grayville, I pulled over due to heavy rain. The radar was showing lots of rain in the whole region after 11 am the next day, which must have been on my mind because I woke up at 3 am and couldn't get back to sleep. So at 4, I decided to pack up and get an early start to see how much of it I could beat. I pulled over for breakfast at 10:30 due to rain. It passed by, and the rest of the day was fairly decent, with light, spotty showers.
Since we got done with our interview early and home only being 5.5 hours away, I drove home yesterday to surprise Destini Scott with an early arrival. To get this surprise to work I had to turn off my live360. I got to a gas station close to home and just got a notification from the 360 app that Destini had just gotten home. I called before I gassed up and told her to put the food she had gotten for dinner that night in the fridge and asked her if she felt like a steak, dinner. She screamed with excitement. When I got home the puppies were very happy to see me, and so was my wife. We went out to dinner, and the puppies cuddled with me all night. Feels so good to be home. Altogether, the trip was 9580.4 miles.
