What a Grand Canyon

Writer's picture: tmscott81tmscott81

What a week! after Page Az, I went to the Grand Canyon and stayed at Mather Campground. It was nice to cool down a bit. On the first day, after dinner at the Arizona Steakhouse, I went to Mather Point for sunset and Hermit Road at 4 am for the sunrise. Okay, I woke up at 4:00 and got there by 4:30. While at one of the points, I found some bighorn sheep that allowed me to take some great shots. I tried to get some night shots at Mather Point last night, but the clouds rolled in pretty quickly. I saw a bobcat when I turned into the loop to my site. Unfortunately, it ran away before I could make friends with it and bring it back for Cotton Ball or get a picture.

Unfortunately, it's supposed to be 107 degrees today in El Paso, TX, so I had to contact the person I was to interview there and tell her I would not be able to make it. After camping for five days in the heat, I was concerned that my body was not ready to tackle that 561-mile drive without dehydrating myself.

I woke up early this morning and tried to pack up slowly. I was still on the ride by 8:30. I'm off to Long Beach next, and I'll spend the night in a hotel before I arrive.
